There is a divine order under grace to give us the highest bestowed honor. Truly, we deserve nothing, but then Christ died for us. This redeemed us and brought us into a position of honor, an honor esteemed higher than the people on earth.
The cross represents the all-sufficient sacrifice by which God has provided for every need and there is no other basis for His provision. Through the cross, we can receive the release of the supernatural grace that we will need to do what the New Testament tells us to do.
If we do not accept the cross as the redeeming, sufficient power and provision for us, then we will not have the power that the cross releases.
